“Behind every young child who believes in himself is a parent who believed first.” — Matthew Jacobson
One thing you may or may not know about me is, I am a crazy plant lady. A trait that I acquired from my best friend – and fellow photographer – Sarah with Purple Fern Photography. A few years ago, she gave me a begonia. I considered myself to have a black thumb at the time and had convinced myself it wouldn’t survive long. Low and behold, that begonia is now HUGE, and I am the proud plant parent to over fifty different house plants – much to my husbands disapproval, but I digress. Coincidentally a few years ago, Sarah shot a beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple in Northern Virginia. Fast forward to now, this same beautiful couple has moved to Charlotte, North Carolina (yes I travel) and are expecting their first child together. Emmy reached out to me asking if I would capture their maternity session. When we started planning and styling her session, she had mentioned that she was wanting unique backdrops for their images. I promise I’m getting to the crazy plant lady part.
Not long ago Sarah and I were discussing, you guessed it, plants. She had told me about this adorable greenhouse in the Charlotte area and how I HAD to stop there and pick her up a Birken. This adorable greenhouse ended up being our first location for our session. I can’t even begin to describe how much I love these images and this greenhouse. I was in my own personal heaven, working with the sweetest couple surrounded by beautiful plants. Congratulations to this happy couple, and a huge thank you to Malone’s Nursery and Succulent House for letting us shoot in your space. I can not wait to help welcome this baby boy into the world!
