Last week I got to work with these two love birds while I was in Northern Virginia visiting family. I knew Eddie from high school, and just adore his fiance Whitney – these two are perfect together. We shot close to sunset and despite some ominous clouds, the storm held off until after our session and gave us some really moody skies for our backdrop. We started our shoot at The Inn at Vaucluse Spring and ended at their wedding venue Trumpet Vine Farm.  I am so looking forward to working with them again for their wedding next fall!

This year has been so exciting for me – and on top of it I get to meet and hang with some amazing couples!  Anna and Everett were certainly one of the couples I have been looking forward to hanging out with.  Their engagement session was nothing short of amazing.  We shot at a location that was very special to them – the place where Everett proposed by Fort Fisher in Kure Beach. It was a beautiful and breezy summer day, in other words, perfect.   We explored the stretch of beach and parks within the area – playing in the sand and giggling in the tall beach grass. I’m so looking forward to their January wedding!

As I type this my son is sitting next to me, he’s wearing a dinosaur mask and just stole my breakfast. Never did I image I would be ok with these things but I am, as he starts to sing a song he made up. He’s always singing, or roaring – there is no in between. Three years ago this little boy came barreling into our lives and flipped our whole world upside down in the best way possible. He is love and light in a tiny bundle of energy. Happy birthday to our beautiful obnoxious boy.

This was such a fun engagement session – as you will soon be able to tell from the photos – in the warehouse district in downtown Raleigh. Travis, Kate, two of the best friends, and I roamed the area for about an hour or so Saturday night shooting their engagement and laughing entirely too much. We did a couple of  “posey” shots but for the most part is was me trying to convince them there was no camera and watching them laugh and love on each other. At one point there was almost tears when I asked Travis to tell Kate about a time he was really proud of her, but the tears quickly turned back to laughter when I told them to pretend like they just won the lottery. I can’t wait for this sweet couple to be married in Charlotte this fall. I know it will be just as emotional and moving as their engagement!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a week since I’ve been home from the Pacific Northwest. I don’t have the words to express how much I loved this place and how a big piece of my heart belongs here. It’s dark and moody – which is kind of my style. Creatively its an artists dream town. Until we meet again Washington…
